HERA Connect Fall 2024

Working in higher education today is a constant process of adapting and evolving to ensure that everything our institutions offer is relevant to our students and the world they are preparing to enter.

HERA institutions feel a collective responsibility to provide students with the knowledge, skills and abilities it takes to thrive in a competitive world of work.

That sense of responsibility also extends to meeting the needs of employers – especially our employers here in Southeastern Wisconsin. They depend on us to develop and upskill the next generation of talented, career-ready employees.

As we rise to meet these responsibilities, it is more important than ever for us to keep moving forward together. I am proud to report that HERA continues to do exactly that.

A great example of this is HERA’s partnership with the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute to present our inaugural Artificial Intelligence Faculty Summit, which I was fortunate to attend in October. And while the topic may have been artificial intelligence, it was readily apparent that the brainpower in that room is very human – and anything but artificial!

A summary can be found elsewhere in this newsletter, but I wanted to provide a few key takeaways of my own.
